Our accommodation is at the well-appointed 3 star hotel Adiafa in the seaside town of Barbate. The hotel is situated only 50 metres from the beach and is ideal for relaxing after horse riding. Being small and family run the hotel is very friendly and welcoming. All the rooms are spacious twin bedrooms with an on-suite bathroom with bath and shower, with some having a balcony and full sea view. Rooms are allocated that are without a balcony and during low season single bookings will be allocated their own bedroom whenever possible. There are supplements to guarantee single rooms and upgrade rooms to one with a balcony and sea view. Air-conditioning, wi-fi internet connection and international digital TV is also provided in the bedrooms.
Barbate is perfect for a horse riding vacation. It is a medium sized town with a busy fishing port and a population of 22,000. The town's beach is a beautiful expanse of golden sand and runs for almost 2 km from the River Barbate to the Marina. It is overlooked by a wonderful promenade which has plenty of lively bars and restaurants in which you will be made more than welcome by the local people. Barbate has a lovely town square that has the town hall and the church at either side.
There is plenty to see and do locally in the free time available on our holidays. Vejer de la Frontera is a beautiful hilltop town and only 11km away, easily accessed by taxi or by bus. Los Caños de Meca is lovely, and being built around Cape Trafalgar the town has the history of the famous battle of Trafalgar. Further afield is Bolonia which has the Roman ruins of Baelo Claudia which was a Roman fishing town. The capital of our province is Cádiz and has a beautiful cathedral, ancient walls, narrow winding streets, and large port. On the free day on our eight day holiday, or for non-riders, the city is well worth exploring.
As well as being located next to the beach the hotel is right by Barbate's town centre. Ideal for souvenir hunting the town has good shopping facilities. Many shops accept bank cards and there are several cash dispensers. There is also a good bus and taxi service if you wish to explore the area after the days horse riding has finished.
The horse riding vacations would not be complete without good food and drink. A buffet Breakfast is available in the hotel Adiafa'a cafeteria. Relaxed Lunches are eaten after the ride in traditional 'tapas' bars. Dinners are taken at a variety of quality restaurants within Barbate. All meals are typical 'Andaluz' with superb meat and fish dishes being served. Vegetarians can be catered for.
